In an exciting update from the 2023 Cacao of Excellence Awards, the Best 50 cacao samples have been chosen after a rigorous evaluation process. With a total of 222 cacao bean submissions from 52 countries, the Best 50 represents outstanding quality and diverse flavors across the world’s major cacao-producing regions.
The journey of these exceptional cacao samples began with a detailed physical evaluation and processing at the Cacao of Excellence R&D Laboratory. An 11-member Technical Committee then conducted blind sensory evaluations from May to September 2023, resulting in the selection of the Best 50 for this year's Edition.

The next stage involves a distinguished jury of cacao and chocolate professionals evaluating the Best 50 chocolate samples to determine the Gold, Silver, and Bronze award recipients. The winners will be announced at the Cacao of Excellence Awards Ceremony on February 8, 2024, at Chocoa in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
