Programmes designed with partners, scaled to fit
Beyond the CoEx Origins Training, we design programmes directly with partners, scaling from a single cooperative to national quality systems. Every context at origin is different, so each programme is built around the partner's own objectives, participants and timeline.
Three Ways to Build Capacity
These are starting points rather than fixed tiers. A national programme, for example, will often include cooperative and community level training as one of its components.
Cooperative Programmes
Build quality skills directly within one operation.
With a single cooperative or producer organisation
- Tailored sensory, physical quality or post-harvest training for staff and members
- Support to establish or strengthen internal quality control
- Establishing a small scale quality laboratory and training staff to apply CoEx protocols for processing cacao
Community Programmes
Empower producer communities through quality, extending capacity across cooperatives and producer groups.
With NGOs and implementing partners
- Training delivered across multiple cooperatives or producer groups
- Training of trainers to sustain capacity beyond the programme
- Can draw on wider Alliance expertise, for example agroforestry or climate adaptation, where objectives call for it
National & Regional Quality Systems
Build a country's lasting institutional capacity to assess, recognise and reward its own cacao quality.
With governments, development organisations and regional bodies
- Producer and intermediary training at scale
- National and regional laboratory development
- Professional accreditation and alignment with national quality standards
- Access to Alliance wide expertise, genetics, agroforestry, climate adaptation and cadmium mitigation, for landscape scale programmes
"Regional" here means sub-national, such as a department or province within a country, for example our work in Arauca, Colombia, not a multi-country region.
